Art Rapture's THE THROWBACK: A Canadian Masterpiece of Art, Community, and Giving
VANCOUVER, CANADA – In a triumphant celebration of artistry, community, and philanthropy, Art Rapture's THE THROWBACK event, held on September 23rd, 2023, at Vancouver's iconic Ironworks Studio, left an indelible mark on attendees and the art world alike.
A Vibrant Art Showcase:
THE THROWBACK, curated by the visionary Paul Becker and his dedicated team, transcended expectations. The event's central theme, "Throwback," encouraged artists to pay homage to the great masters of the past, resulting in a breathtaking array of creations. Highlights included Ola Volo's evocative "Eternal Gaze" and Bill Higginson's surreal "Pillars of Understanding," reminiscent of Salvador Dali's "The Angelus."
An Artistic Gathering:
Local talents such as Jason Dussault, Ben Z Cooper, Benjamin Lumb, Jay Senetchko, Anyuta Gusakova, Rory Doyle, Manon Biernacki, Annie Zhai, and Bracken Hanuse Corlett stood shoulder to shoulder with international luminaries like Mad Dog Jones and Andy Dixon. The evening dance party, with live music by the DJ Mr. Pablo, musician Stephen Lecky (@iamlecky), DJ HUBBZ, and scratch DJ The Phonograff transformed the Ironworks into a pulsating hub of creativity.
A Philanthropic Impact:
Beyond the artistic splendour, THE THROWBACK made a meaningful impact by raising over $5,000 for the charitable organization "One Girl Can." Andy Dixon's lithographs “Hygieia”, a debut in traditional lithography, were a revelation. Alluring collectors and art enthusiasts alike, these limited edition lithographs, each meticulously hand-signed and numbered, sold out within minutes. The "ar" blind embossing stamp and Certificate of Authenticity from Art Rapture added prestige to these exquisite pieces, printed at Malaspina Printmakers in Vancouver, BC.
Celebrating Community and Creativity:
THE THROWBACK celebrated not only art but also community. Attendees relished curator tours hosted by Paul Becker himself, gaining unique insights into the artists' inspirations. Thought-provoking panel discussions, guided by co-curator Ryan E. Watson, delved into the creative minds of artists such as Michelle Hoogveld, Adrian O'Brien, William D. Higginson, Karl Hipol, Olga Rybalko, Pablo Zamudio, and Sean Jantzi.Certainly! "Art is a universal language, and 'THE THROWBACK' spoke volumes.
