Collection: Grant Selby
Grant Selby is a self-taught artist based in Vancouver BC. working primarily with charcoal on paper, as well as exploring digital, mixed media, and found objects. Working within these media, Grant often starkly juxtaposes death and the macabre with flourishing life using an uncanny sense of realism. Inspired by abandoned places, found objects, and the natural world, his work evokes powerful emotions with its striking imagery.
Growing up in Germany, Grant was heavily influenced by the artistry in the cathedrals and castles that he would visit on family trips. Once he returned to Canada, he went on to pursue photography in a post-secondary institution.
After college, Grant explored a nomadic lifestyle living out of his backpack with money from odd jobs and selling drawings from his sketchbook.
